Q: How do I purchase your products?
A: We sell through a network of contract hardware distributors.  Please contact your local Representative for a distributor that can best service your requirements.

Q: Can I purchase from you if I do not have an account?
A: Sorry, no.  However, we value your interest, so please contact your local Representative for a distributor that can best service your needs.

Q: What do I need to do to become a distributor for your products?
A: Contact your local Representative to see if there is a need for distribution in your area.  They will be able to advise you on the necessary requirements.

Q: What are your lead times?
A: Our “standard” lead times run between 2-3 weeks; however, we try to be accommodating for emergency requirements.

Q: Can I phone in my order?
A: Yes, but to be sure that we have all the correct information, it is preferable to have a fax or e-mail copy of your purchase order.

Q: Do you stock exit devices?
A: All of our exit devices are manufactured to order; however, many of our Representatives and distributors inventory devices to service immediate requirements.

Q: How can I get help selecting the correct exit devices for my needs?
A: One of three ways.

1. Refer to the Products section of this site for information on the exit devices available.
2. Contact your local Representative.  They are knowledgeable in our products and all aspects of the construction process.

Q: How can I get help specifying your products?
A: Contact your local Representative.  They will be able to assist you. You can also contact SpecCentreŽ Services they can also assist you.

Q: Can I get a template book?
A: Sorry, no.  To assure you have the most current information for your door preparation, may we ask that you please refer to the Templates section of this site.

Q: Will the 2000 series exit device through-bolt to the hole pattern of the 1000 series exit device?
A: Yes.

Q: Is there an extra charge for devices over 3'-0" wide?
A: No, 3'-0" and 4'-0" devices are the same price.

Q: Are Precision exit devices field reversible?
A: Yes, some devices are Non-Handed.  For Devices with Handing the instruction sheet packed with each Exit Device shows proper handing change.

Q. What type of cylinder is required with Precision Hardware exit devices?
A. A Rim type cylinder is required on the following series Exit Devices: 2100, 21, 2200, 22, 24 (on 03 function only), 26 (on 03 function only), 2700, 2800, 100, 200, and 0810.  A 1-1/4" mortise type cylinder with a standard straight cam is used on the following Exit Devices: 2300, 24 x 2908A, 26 x 2908A, 300.  To achieve cylinder dogging on ALL Apex Series Devices a 1-1/4" mortise cylinder with a standard straight cam is required.

Q: Can your exit devices be mounted on extra thick doors?
A: Yes, just specify the thickness of the door and we’ll do the rest.  For extra thick doors requiring Mortise or Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Devices, please consult the factory.

Q: What is the minimum door width a Precision exit device can be mounted on?
A: For the Apex and Narrow Stile Apex Series, the minimum “opening” width is 2’-0".  For the Olympian and Enduro Series, the crossbar can be cut to various lengths.

Q: Are other manufacturers' access control exterior trim compatible with PHI exit devices?
A: Yes, many mechanical and electronic access control products are compatible with our exit devices. 

Q: Is the vandal resistant lever trim necessary on dummy trim (02), night latch (03) or passage (08A) functions?
A: The Vandal Resistant lever trim was designed to work with “lockable” (08) trim functions only.

Q: What type of cylinder is used on the keyed removable mullion?
A: A standard Rim Cylinder is used on our KR822 and FLKR822.

Q: Is a C03 escutcheon plate required for cylinder attachment for a 2703 “less trim” wood door concealed vertical rod device?
A: No. The #3 escutcheon is not necessary since the vertical rods do not interfere with the cylinder attachment.

Q: Can I use 2000C trim on narrow stile apex devices?
A: Yes, on (02) and (03) functions for the 24 Rim Series only.  But be careful, minimum stile width requirements change.

Q: Can I change my hex key dogging device to cylinder dogging?
A: Yes, simply by ordering a cylinder dogging kit. (e.g. CDK-3 US26D)

Q: Can I get extension rods for your surface vertical rod device?
A: Sorry, no.  Our “standard” surface vertical rods are available in three sizes.
• For door opening heights up to 7’-0”
For door opening heights 7’-1” to 8’-0”
For door opening heights 8’-1” to 10’-0”
Please contact us for heights greater than 10’.

Q: Can I get extension rods for your concealed vertical rod device?
A: Sorry, no.  Our “standard” concealed vertical rods are available in two sizes.
For door opening heights 6’-8” to 8’-0”
For door opening heights 8’-1” to 10’-0”

Q. Is Precision's electric latch retraction exit device or delayed egress exit device compatible with other manufacturers' power supplies?
A. No. Precision Electric Latch Retraction Devices REQUIRE the use of a Precision Power Supply, ELR150 Series. Precision Delayed Egress Devices REQUIRE the use of a Precision Power Supply PS160.

Q: How many Precision exit devices can be powered from the Precision power supply at the same time?
A: A maximum of four Electric Latch Retraction Exit Devices can be powered at the same time.

Q: How many Precision delayed egress exit devices can be powered from the Precision PS160 power supply at the same time?
A: A maximum of four Delayed Egress Exit Devices can be powered at the same time.

Q. How many wires does a Precision electric latch retraction device use?
A. All Precision Electric Latch Retraction Devices are manufactured with two white wires and two black wires.

Q. What are the functions of the white and black wires inside the Precision electric latch retraction device?
A. The two white wires are used to provide power to the solenoids of the exit device.  The two black wires provide a means of signaling back to the Power Supply after the two solenoids have seated.  (It is REQUIRED that all four wires be used for proper operation)

Q: Is the dummy touchbar available with the signal switch option?
A: Yes, when the option is added the touchbar becomes non-rigid.  To order specify 672DA for Wide Stile or N674DA for Narrow Stile Device.

Q: Can I add an exit alarm to my existing device?
A: Yes, simply by ordering an ALK Alarm Kit.

Q: Can I add the electric latch retraction option to my existing device?
A: Yes, simply by ordering an ELR Conversion Kit.

Q: Can I add a touchbar monitoring switch to my existing device?
A: Yes, simply by ordering a Touchbar Monitoring Conversion Kit.

Q: What is the minimum door width for an apex series exit device with electrical options?
A: The minimum door widths are as follows:
    ELR with ALK .............    3'-0"
    ELR with ALW ............    2'-10"
    ELR with Dogging .......    2'-6"
    ELR without Dogging ...    2'-4"
    ALK ...........................    2'-8" *
    ALW ..........................    2'-6" *
